Wildlife Trust activities for autumn and winter

The Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, Mansfield and Ashfield Local Group has a varied programme events for the autumn and winter.

Illustrated talks at the main hall in Bridge Street Methodist Church, Mansfield, start at 7pm and are open to all. A £3 donation is requested.

The first talk is on Tuesday, 11th November. River In Time will feature Derbyshire writer and photographer Christine Gregory explaining how human activity has had an impact on the River Bradford in the Peak District and its wildlife.

Future talks include:

Tuesday, 9th December – Dormice by Chris Holliland.
Tuesday, 10th February – Bats by Michael Walker.
Tuesday, 10th March – The Magic of Animals’ Senses by Dr Rob Mason.
Tuesday, 28th April – Cuckoo GPS by Andy Lowe.

The group has organised a work day lopping broom at Rainworth Heath on Sunday, 16th November, from 10am. Contact Shlomo Dowen on 01623 640134 for details.

The group’s Portland Park Nature Walks with Ian O’Brien take place on the third Saturday of the month at 10am at Portland Park Visitor Centre, Kirkby. Walks finish at about 11.30am. For details contact Karen Bennett on 07974 973598.

Wildlife Watch meetings for 8-13-year-olds are held at St Mark’s Church Hall, Mansfield from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Contact Sarah Spurry, watch leader, on 07885 169111 or at [email protected]
