Woodland Festival sponsors announced

Local companies Robert Woodhead Ltd and Edwinstowe House are sponsoring the second Major Oak Woodland Festival in Sherwood Forest in September.

It is organised by Nottinghamshire County Council in partnership with The Sherwood Forest Trust, on 12th and 13th September, to celebrate woodland management and crafts.

The festival is a highlight in the calendar for the iconic Major Oak, the Woodland Trust’s England Tree of the Year.

Robert Woodhead Ltd is an award-winning building company based at Edwinstowe House, a business services provider offering commercial property management, serviced office space, conferencing, training, and business support services.

Counc John Knight, committee chairman for culture at the council said: “Last year was the first event to celebrate 60 years of Sherwood Forest as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It was such a success we have decided to host it again.”

Dr Patrick Candler, chief executive of the trust, said: “The festival offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the beauty and the wonder of Sherwood Forest, and also appreciate how it has supported livelihoods throughout the ages.

“There will be an array of traditional and modern woodland crafts and skills displayed, together with stalls and activities.”

David Woodhead, of Robert Woodhead, said: “As we are based in the heart of Sherwood Forest, we get to see first-hand the fantastic effect the Major Oak has on the community.”
