What’s On guide for the summer

Families in Mansfield district can look forward to a bigger, better guide to events and activities taking place during the school summer holidays.

Mansfield District Council is joining forces with The MESS Guide to produce a single summer 2015 What’s On guide, which contains details of all events organised by the council, Mansfield BID, leisure centres, children’s centres and community groups.

The guide is being funded by the council and Mansfield Partnership Against Crime (MPAC), which works to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour.

About 40,000 copies will be distributed at the start of July to all primary schools in the district as well as the Brunts, Queen Elizabeth and Samworth families of schools. It will also be available from community venues including Mansfield Civic Centre, libraries, children’s centres and doctors’ surgeries.

You will also be able to download it from www.mansfield.gov.uk/whatson and can sign up to receive all the council’s school holiday What’s On guides direct to your inbox by emailing [email protected] with What’s On as the subject.

The Executive Mayor of Mansfield, Kate Allsop, said: “This comprehensive guide will make it far easier for families to plan activities to keep children and young people of all ages entertained over the long summer holidays. For the first time, all the information you need will be in one place so you don’t miss out on anything.”

Speaking on behalf of MPAC, Yvette Armstrong, from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Community Safety Team, said: “MPAC is delighted to be working with one of its members, Mansfield District Council, to produce what we believe will be a bumper guide to things to do and places to go during the summer holidays.

“The guide includes activities for all age groups, including teenagers, and we hope it will help prevent young people being bored and encourage them to try new things.”
