A popular act from hit television show Britain’s Got Talent drew crowds into Mansfield town centre.
Footfall was up by 24.6% on last year as more than 5,000 people were entertained by Mansfield BID’s Men in Black-themed day, featuring Titan the Giant Robot.
There were three performances by Titan, a hit on Britain’s Got Talent who again proved popular in the Market Place with shoppers and visitors.
Children picked up free gifts that included Men in Black-themed sunglasses, a robot craft activity, robot tattoos, alien parachutes, Spiderman posters, football sticker books, and sweets.
Smyths Toys, on Portland Retail Park, supported the event with robot toys, Lego, Pepper Pig soft toys, Star Wars figures, PlayStation games and further toys, which were given away through a free prize draw.
Every child received a raffle ticket attached to the new Smyths toy catalogue, which was given away at the event.
Town centre shops and businesses reported that sales and footfall had increased compared with last year and the previous Saturday.
The Mansfield BID team (above) were all dressed as Men in Black. Operations and marketing manager Sue Rogers said: “It was a great fun day for the town centre and Titan really drew the crowds.
“We had an extremely long queue at 10.30am when the event started as children collected all their free goodies.
“It’s great to see people enjoying themselves in our town and many of them stayed to enjoy a bite to eat and do some shopping too.”
The event was also supported by Nexus People UK, off Church Street; Sensational Sweets N Treats, West Gate; and The Little Lotion Company.
