Magical new season is on the way to Palace

When the curtain comes down on the panto season at the Palace Theatre, Mansfield, at the end of January, music, magic and mirth will take over.

Britain’s Got Talent winner Richard Jones is bringing his Escape tour to Mansfield on Friday, 28th February, when the mesmerising lance corporal will show exactly what made him the stand out star of the top talent show in 2016.

There will be 16 music tribute evenings, paying tribute to the likes of The Jersey Boys (The Jersey Beats), ELO (ELO Experience), George Michael (George Michael Experience) and much more.

Steve Steinman returns with Vampires Rock – Ghost Train on Saturday, 8th February, a tongue in cheek show featuring the songs of Queen, Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf and more.

There will be more music with award-winning folk trio Alden, Patterson and Dashwood will perform Folk in the Studio on Friday, 28th February.

Oddsocks are bringing The Adventures of Pinocchio to the Palace stage on Sunday, 9th February, and there will be more theatre in a modern drama, Revenge, directed by Eastenders’ Louise Jameson, on Wednesday, 11th March.

Comedy will be to the fore in No More Fiffing and Faffing — a comedy drama about the last night of an end-of-pier show — written by and starring Jimmy Cricket, Jonathan Young and Colin Meredith, on Thursday, 20th February.

The Circus of Horrors returns as part of a 25th Anniversary Tour on Tuesday, 24th March, and Ballet Theatre UK will perform Giselle on Sunday, 15th March.

Local talent showcasing their work on the Palace Theatre stage in the coming months include the Senior Youth Theatre with After You’ve Gone, on Wednesday 12th and Thursday, 13th February; Mansfield Operatic Society, presenting Singin’ in the Rain, from Wednesday 4th to Sunday, 8th March; New Youth Theatre, with Footloose the Musical, from Tuesday 17th to Wednesday, 18th March; and Expressions Academy of Performing Arts, recreating Chicago the Musical, on Thursday 26th and Friday, 27th March.
