Paul Taylor, president of the Stags Supporters Association and official historian of Mansfield Town FC for the past 25 years, has received a top honour from Mansfield Rotary.
The award of a Paul Harris Fellowship was made following a talk he gave on the history of the football club between 1980 and 2000.
It was the fourth that Paul had given to Mansfield Rotary over the past 18 months, beginning with the Stags’ origins in 1897.
Rotary president Paul Bacon, who is pictured presenting the honour at Mansfield Rotary’s meeting at Portland College, said those present were again amazed at Paul’s encyclopaedic recall of matches, goalscorers, players, and officials.
His meticulous record keeping is renowned and eventually he will present all his records to Mansfield Museum for the benefit of everyone with an interest in the club’s history.
Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary in Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1905 and Paul Harris Fellowship awards are made by Rotary to citizens who have given exceptional service to their local community.
