Mansfield Triathlon Club sent a strong team of six athletes to the Bassetlaw Triathlon and the tactic paid off with the club achieving a first overall, two age-group firsts and fourth and fifth age-group places.

Top honours went to Hannah Shooter, who claimed an age group first with her time of 1 hour 13 mins and 58 secs for first woman overall. Tony Alcock’s time of 1 hour 6 mins and 8 secs saw him cruise to first in age group, two minutes ahead of the second-placed athlete and only one minute off an overall podium slot for fourth male overall.

Not to be outdone, Stephen Fowkes took fourth in age-group in a time of 1 hour 28 minutes and 17 secs, whilst Debs Kerry claimed fifth in age-group in 1 hour 28 mins and 5 seconds for a top 10 gender position.

To complete a series of outstanding performances for the club’s athletes, Andrew Parker finished in 1 hour 17 mins and 58 secs with Chris Martin hot on his heals in 1 hour 18 min and 43 secs.

The Bassetlaw Sprint triathlon consists of a 400m pool swim, a 23.6km bike leg and a 5km run.
