Free tickets for sports awards

The Mansfield Sports Recognition Awards take place at the Civic Centre, Mansfield, on Monday, 6th December – and tickets to the event are free.

The town’s Paralympic gold medalist and world champion, para-canoeist Charlotte Henshaw, will be the guest speaker and the evening will be compered by former BBC East Midlands sports editor Mark Shardlow.

Charlotte, a previous winner at the annual awards, will talk about her experience at the Tokyo Paralympics and World Championships earlier this year.

The awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements by individual sports people, coaches, volunteers, teams, and clubs from our community between 1 October, 2020 to 30 September, 2021. Awards are being made in 10 categories:

  • Junior Team of the Year
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Junior Sports Leader of the Year
  • Junior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
  • Club of the Year
  • Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year

The Armchair Club, with the support of Mansfield District Leisure Trust and the News Journal, is behind the event. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start at the Civic Corner, with an expected finish at 8.30pm
