England date for rugby star

Posted onPosted on 25th Feb

Mansfield Rugby Club’s Georgina Tasker, a fly half who captains the under-18s girls, is to make her international debut.

In November, she was selected to join England Rugby’s national talent development group.

Now Georgina (above), has been selected for the national side against Scotland after completing a five-day camp with the England Under-18 training squad.

She said: “I feel extremely privileged and proud to have the opportunity to represent my country. I’d like to thank my Mansfield teammates and coaches, past and present.”

Georgina joined Mansfield Rugby Club when she was in year seven at Mansfield’s The Samworth Church Academy, where she is now in the sixth form.

Club chairman Andy Foster added: “Georgina’s hard work and dedication is a shining example to others.”

Coach Dean Blake said: “Georgina’s journey has been extraordinary, but her success hasn’t been by chance. Georgina has built some very strong foundations at Mansfield, and she invests so much time into her personal development, taking part in a wide range of activities including O2 Touch on Mondays.

“She is proof that hard work and a genuine love of the game can make dreams come true.”
