Retired women are being welcomed into a Mansfield group that helps men enjoy a productive retirement and old age.

Men in Sheds, Ransom Wood gives members, aged 60-plus, the chance to pursue practical interests, practice skills, and enjoy making and mending.

Founder member Denis Owen said: “Weekly sessions for women will start with basic DIY, woodworking skills on the machines and hand tools we have available in our workshop.

“Fully-experienced volunteers will be on hand to teach or assist new members.

“These sessions can include any projects that you wish to work on, or on items for the shed to sell at one of our forthcoming markets.”

They will start on Monday, 5th February, from 1pm to 4pm, and then run every Monday afternoon. Each session will cost £4.

Men in Sheds, Ransom Wood is based at Ransom Wood Business Park. It aims to enhance the lives of retired people, helping their mental health and wellbeing, and involving them in the local community. Launched in 2022 and run by volunteers, it is now inviting women to join as members.
