The Beech Academy in Mansfield, one of three academies in The Evolve Trust, saw students (some of whom are pictured) take part in activities for World Book Day.

The day started with an assembly followed by class-based activities.

Year 10 students wrote stories for a mini-saga competition.

An older student dressed as Alice in Wonderland to read stories to younger students.

All children had the opportunity to spend book tokens in Mansfield.

Head Mr Adrian O’Malley said: “It is important that students enjoy reading and understand the benefits it can bring.

“Literacy is at the core of our curriculum because it is a key skill they will need to become independent in the future.”
