Kirkby Rotary Club invitation

Kirkby Rotary Club is celebrating the recruitment of 10 new members — seven ladies and three men — since introducing associate membership.
Philip Hurt, vice-president and membership officer, said: “The members who have joined in recent weeks have brought even more spark, energy and fun to the club’s meetings and activities.

“The associate membership scheme offers an opportunity for anyone interested to come along and find out what Rotary is all about and why it is a body that, for over 100 years, has been able to undertake great work for the local and international community, whilst sharing a lot of laughs and developing lifelong friendships.

““Our new recruits are a welcome and valued increase in our strength, allowing us to plan an even more exciting programme for the coming year – and there are further members in the pipeline.

“August is Rotary Membership Month and we’re giving a special welcome to everyone who is interested in joining a modern, vital club which also still retains the essence of the worldwide Rotary movement, so why not get in touch?”

Events organised by the club have included a concert featuring Sutton Community Choir, competitions for a young chef and young photographer, youth leadership awards, an antiques valuation day with television expert Charles Hanson, fundraising stalls at Ashwood May Day Carnival and the Kirkby British Legion Gala; and a fundraising barbecue.

The club has made donations to Young Enterprise and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and financial support for two young sports stars.

Club meetings are held on Tuesdays at Coxmoor Golf Club, from 7 to 9pm. For information text ‘Rotary membership’ and your name to 07720 715260 or email details to [email protected]
