Improved GCSE results at academy

The number of students gaining five or more high grade GCSE passes, including English and Mathematics, rose again at the Samworth Church Academy, Mansfield.

There were particularly strong results in English and science, and improvements in all subjects.

Most students will move on to employment, training or remain in education, with many returning to the Academy to study in the Sixth Form.

There were some outstanding individual performances; Rebecca Hallam gained 9 A*s and 2 As. Paige Phillips gained 7 A*s and 3 As. Keenan Wells gained 5 A*s and 5 As. Matthew Cooper gained 5 A*s and 4 As. Chloe Taplin gained 3 A*s and 6 As.

Michael Griffiths, principal at the academy, said “This has been another exciting day following our successful A Level results last week. The improvement in our GCSE results has been maintained, which is pleasing.

“We are now confident that we can look forward to rising results in the years ahead. The academy has a real belief in what its people can achieve, these results are a real tribute to the hard work of students and the support they have had from our hardworking staff and committed parents.

“Our vision for the academy remains a long-term vision. The results at A-Level and GCSE this year have given us once again a lot of satisfaction and pride.

“However, we have a very ambitious wide ranging agenda and we are confident of continuous improvements in the years ahead.”
