Homebuilders’ charity challenge

Westerman Homes entered a team into the Men’s Health Survival Of The Fittest Challenge in Nottingham.

Site manager Andy Maudsley, above, and Tim Hancock, Jake Barratt, Neil Wakelam and Chris Robey took part to raise money for Mansfield charity A Place To Call Our Own (APTCOO).

The charity works to improve the quality of life for families with disabled children and children with special educational needs.

Andy, site manager at Sovereign Gardens, Selston, said they chose APTCOO because of the hard work and commitment to its service users.

He said: “When we visited the charity’s offices we were blown away by the work it does.”

The survival challenge was an urban assault course of around 10k that spanned landmarks in Nottingham. It included mud baths and slippery walls amongst other obstacles.

The team, who first discussed the idea from a throwaway comment at last year’s Christmas lunch, crossed the finish line together in well under the two hours they had set themselves to complete the course.

So far, Westerman has raised just under £1,200 for APTCOO.
