Helping older people to stay safe

Ashfield Voluntary Action is holding a free event for older people in Ashfield and Mansfield on Thursday, 13th November at the Festival Hall, Kirkby, from 10.30am to 3pm, to support them to stay safe and well in their own homes.

Organisations will have stands and displays, including Nottinghamshire County Council, Age UK, Notts Fire and Rescue, Notts Police, Ashfield Voluntary Action Falls Team and the Integrated Care Team. There will be presentations and a gentle exercise class.

Steve Shaw, Health and Wellbeing Manager at AVA, said: “It is important that older people are aware of what is available in the area and where to get support to help improve their wellbeing. Whether it’s loneliness or a long term condition there are organisations out there to help and support”.

There is a free lunch and limited free transport available, which must be pre-booked. Bookings can be made by calling 01623 555551.
