Help for Mansfield Roller Derby

The Mansfield Building Society has given £350 to Mansfield Roller Derby towards the cost of buying 10 sets of protective equipment.

The funds were awarded as part of The Mansfield’s Community Support Scheme.

Mansfield Roller Derby is a non-profit, skater run, flat-track roller derby league promoting athleticism, empowerment and team work.

It will be competing in the 2015 British Roller Derby Championships.

Amy Johnson, of Mansfield Roller Derby, said: “Protective equipment is vital for the safety of our members and require replacing frequently. These funds will help us continue our progression.”

The Mansfield’s marketing co-ordinator, Mandy Whitten, pictured with members of Mansfield Roller Derby, said: “We are glad to help.

“These type of clubs are essential for our local community and provide enjoyment and health benefits through regular exercise.”

The club, which plays throughout the county, trains at Garibaldi College, Forest Town.
