Golfing partnership launched

After 10 years of online retailing Golfsupport, one of the Uk’s largest retailers of golf equipment and clothing has chosen to partner with award-winning e-commerce website and on-line marketing specialists, Purpose Media, to launch a new online golf store.

It’s also a case of two successful businesses working together for mutual benefit. South Normanton-based Purpose Media was founded in 2009, but became an internet sensation in 2013 after a video clip of a miraculous golf shot its managing director played in a televised competition went live on YouTube and became the golf shot of the year.

Over 5million people have now viewed the video, which was re-aired during Sky TV coverage the 2014 Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship which is held annually at Nailcote Hall. This exposure led to significant coverage in worldwide golf magazines.

When Gary Swift, of Golfsupport, realised that Purpose Media was based near to his golf store in Mansfield, he had no hesitation in contacting them to discuss his online venture.

The result is a brand new e-commerce website that will help Golfsupport maintain its position in the market place whilst also helping to expand its on-line customer base and reach into international markets. The new site will also allow Golfsupport to further develop its retail solution for local clubs and Professionals and assist them in a troubled market place. With a price beat policy, offering to credit the difference plus an extra 10% Golfsupport expect web sales to increase revenue by 20-30%.

Purpose Media managing director Matt Wheatcroft said: “The golf shot was pure fluke, but the commercial success that has followed since it went viral has been phenomenal. A number of sports clubs have now contacted us to help develop their e-commerce proposition as well as interest in on-line ticketing websites. We recently launched Derby County FC’s new ticketing website and online sales have increased by 49%.”

John lines from Golfsupport added: “The golf clothing and equipment market is highly competitive. Most golfers see something they want and it’s natural instinct to go online and search for it cheaper. Boosting our on-line presence is vital to our ongoing success and we needed to ensure that we had the tools available to ensure our product listings were ranked highly on Google searches and that potential customers quickly realise that using Golfsupport means bagging a bargain, speedy delivery and friendly professional service.”

The new website now fully underpins the company ethos: “Golfsupport – Where loyalty is earned – Not expected!
