Folk club hits high notes for charities

Posted onPosted on 11th Jan

Homeless and vulnerably-housed adults who use the Beacon Centre on Wood Street, Mansfield, have benefited from Mansfield Folk Club support.

The club recently made a donation of £300 to the centre, the proceeds from one of its popular guest nights.

The Beacon is a safe place where those who often have complex and numerous needs and challenges can access a range of services to help to improve their wellbeing.

The club said it was pleased to add the Beacon to the many charities it supports. Throughout 2023 the club gave a total of £3,656 in donations to local and national charities.

Mansfield Folk Club meets every Monday, including most Bank Holidays, at Forest Town Arena. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start, and the aim is to finish at 10.30pm.

The club said it aims to provide a range of live acoustic music every week at a price that means no one is excluded.

Acoustic singer and musician nights are open to all with admission £1.

Feature nights include two 20-minute slots by a named performer, with the rest of the evening open to floor spots. Admission is £2.

Guest nights feature a main artist and support act for £5 entry.

Anyone interested in playing, singing, or listening to all forms of acoustic music are welcomed.
