First event of Mansfield Summer Festival

Mansfield District Council is kick-starting the holidays with the first of four Summer Festivals on Tuesday, 29th July at Carr Lane Park in Warsop.

The event which runs from 10am until 3pm is packed full of free entertainment and activities for all the family – including the dog!

Visitors to the event at Carr Lane Park can enjoy arena attractions including a demonstration from the Double Dogs Dancing team, multi-skills sports activities, express exercise classes, circus skills workshops, dog obedience demonstrations and commentary from Mansfield 103.2.

There is also an opportunity to take part in BMX taster sessions on the park’s BMX track – age restrictions apply and booking may be required on the day.

A marquee will host a range of other activities including a recycling arts and crafts workshop, a chance to meet the Dogs Trust team to pick up some tips on looking after your dog and a butterfly-themed craft workshop with the Greenwood Partnership.

Representatives from the council’s departments will also be available to answer questions and give advice including members of the Your Dog Your Responsibility team with their mascot Scoop, our supernanny parenting practitioner, environmental health officers and neighbourhood wardens.

Full details are available online at www.mansfield.gov.uk/summerfestival

Parking on site is limited, so people have been urged to walk or use public transport if possible.

Coun Philip Shields, Mansfield District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment said: “This free family event is the first of four that will take place over the summer holidays. It’s a great opportunity to spend some time out with the family in our parks and take part in some fun activities. Bring your friends and family for a great day out.”
