Posted onPosted on 31st Oct

Mansfield District Council is holding two events at the Civic Centre, Chesterfield Road South on Wednesday 12 November at 6pm and Thursday 5 February 2015 at 6 pm for anyone interested in finding out more about becoming a Mansfield District Councillor or the Executive Mayor.

The next District Council and Mayoral elections will be held on 7 May 2015 when 36 District Council seats will be contested along with the position of Executive Mayor.

The Prospective Mayor and Councillor evenings are being organised by the Democratic Services team and will explain the process involved in standing for election, as well as what the Council does and the reality of life as a District Councillor or Executive Mayor.

Managing Director and Returning Officer of Mansfield District Council, Ruth Marlow said: “Councillors come from all walks of life, age groups and backgrounds and play a key role in shaping the future of their local communities. If you have a genuine interest in what happens in the district of Mansfield and want to represent your local community, why not come along to find out more?”
