Ferret racing fundraiser

Kirkby Rotary Club is holding a ferret race night to raise money for Kirkby Woodhouse Foodbank.

It will be held at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall, Kirkby, on Saturday, 28th March, at 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced £6, including a pie and pea supper, are available from The Ark Bookshop, Station Street, Kirkby ,or by ringing 07831 691326.

Those attending are invited to take their own drinks and glasses.

Organiser Rotarian Neil Lancashire said there was still sponsorship required for some of the 10 races, which will each feature five ferrets.

The food bank was set up by volunteers at St John’s Church, Kirkby Woodhouse, in 2013 to offer essential foodstuffs to deprived families and to help them with advice on debt and benefits problems. The charity has given food to more than 2,000 people.
