Direct help for charity

Drivers Direct, one of the UK’s leading providers of temporary and permanent drivers to commercial organisations, has raised more than £2,500 for Marie Curie by holding a black tie event for staff across the UK.

All Drivers Direct employees, including those at its Alfreton branch, were asked to make a donation to the charity in exchange for attending the company’s all inclusive annual black tie event at the Victory Club, Marble Arch in London. After the event, the grand total raised was doubled by Drivers Direct, resulting in a staggering £2,500 raised for Marie Curie.

During the evening employees were recognised for their excellent customer service, commitment to the company as well as achievements within the business and were awarded with trophies and trips to either New York, Paris or London.

Gethin Roberts, Owner and Managing Director at Drivers Direct, comments: “Every year our employees and board of directors select a charity to raise money for at the black tie event. This year’s event was a great success and thanks to the generosity of employees, we were able to raise a substantial amount for Marie Curie.”

Julie Davies, from Marie Curie, adds: “We are very thankful to Drivers Direct for donating such a generous amount to Marie Curie. We work hard to provide the best care for all of our patients and in the last year alone, nearly 39,000 people were given the choice of where and how to spend their final days thanks to kind donations such as the one from Drivers Direct. Their generous donation will pay for more than 125 hours of our nurses’ time, meaning more people can receive care from Marie Curie”

Marie Curie Care is a UK charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal illnesses providing expert care and the best quality of life. For more information on Marie Curie please visit www.mariecurie.org.uk.
