Posted onPosted on 9th Dec

Mansfield District Council’s award-winning International Clean-Up Mansfield Day will take place on Friday, 12th June.

Last year, more than 45 groups across three continents took part in the second clean-up day when volunteers, from toddlers to people in their 80s, collected more than 306 bags of rubbish.

Groups in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Ohio in the USA and Victoria in Australia also took part.
ll those who took part in the event in Mansfield, UK were presented with a certificate and awards were given to the winners of the best clean-up initiatives.

There are lots of different ways to be involved, such as sponsoring an award, creating a window display, planting flowers and trees, environmental educational activities or litter picks.

Portfolio holder for the environment, Coun Philip Shields said: “This global and national award-winning event gives our communities the chance to show that we care about the place where we live.

“I want as many people and organisations as possible to get involved and help to make Mansfield a litter free zone. Sign up now and join us in our efforts to make Mansfield one of the cleanest places on the planet.”
