Council’s roadworks help

Posted onPosted on 27th Mar

MOTORISTS have been reminded they can plan their journeys and get advance notice of roadworks by using Nottinghamshire County Council’s online interactive map at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk that shows current and planned works.

Motorists can search for a town or village or see individual road works schemes taking place.

Clicking on to a scheme shows the exact location of the works, what they involve, who is responsible for them, the severity of any delays expected and how long they are scheduled to last.

The council is responsible for co-ordinating road works around the county to make sure that any delays are kept to a minimum.

Sometimes an emergency road repair will be needed, for example to fix a broken gas pipe, and delays will be unavoidable.

Advance notice boards are erected for all council-funded major works. Temporary advance advisory signs such as ‘Work starts here’ are put in place at least two weeks before work is set to begin and are removed once work is complete and replaced with a scheme sign showing contractors name and emergency contact details.

Works carried out by the utilities are not controlled by the council, although a small percentage of their work is inspected in order to maintain standards.
