Lib Dem Leader on Nottinghamshire County Council Coun Jason Zadrozny put volunteers in the spotlight when he did a shift in a charity shop. Jason worked in the Children’s Society Charity shop on Outram Street, Sutton.
He said: “The atmosphere in the shop was fantastic. These volunteers are our unsung heroes. They give up their time selflessly to help others and I can’t applaud them enough. I was able to discuss some of the issues close to the staff’s hearts. This included the high level of child poverty. I have raised many of these issues with David Laws, schools minister, and he has promised to look into them.”
Shop manager Maria Scicluna-Kerry said: “We always need more volunteers, you just need to walk in and ask. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, from different backgrounds and help for various reasons.”
