Move over Diversity! Young dance talent is being sought to join a new advanced dance group being launched in north Nottinghamshire.

County Youth Arts, Nottinghamshire County Council and Dance4 are seeking dancers to join the new North Nottinghamshire Youth Dance Company from September 2014.

The deadline for applications is Monday, September 15, at 4pm for the North Nottinghamshire Youth Dance Company Audition.

The group will take part in weekly contemporary and choreography technique sessions, held in the north of the county at the Old Library Theatre, Mansfield, and work towards performance opportunities throughout the year.

The county council’s County Youth Arts team is behind a number of innovative projects within the creative industries working with professional artists including a recent young choreographer programme and its successful Supergroup initiative to form a new band of top talent in the county.

Sam Holgate-Davey, from County Youth Arts at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “We are looking for young people aged 11-17 years with exceptional talent and potential in dance.

“The company’s main aim is to train young dancers in contemporary dance, enabling them to work creatively and perform to audiences.

“The sessions will support the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) programme, led by Dance4, which develops students with exceptional talent in dance from across the East Midlands to progress into careers in the art form. We encourage students living in Nottinghamshire and interested in the CAT programme to join North Nottinghamshire Youth Dance Company in order to gain more knowledge and experience within contemporary dance.”

County Youth Arts and Dance4 will hold auditions for the company on Tuesday 16 September at Old Library Theatre, Leeming Street, Mansfield.

Completed forms can then be emailed to Sam Holgate-Davey [email protected] no later than 4pm on Friday, 12th September. Regular sessions will be held on Tuesdays at the Old Library Theatre, Mansfield, between 6 – 8pm.
