Young dancers wanted

Mansfield and Ashfield’s young dancers are being urged to audition for one of 100 available parts for the English Youth Ballet when it performs the Nutcracker at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham, this summer.

Youngsters aged eight to 18 can audition on Monday, 17th March from 5pm at The Emmamuel School, Gresham Park Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7YF.

Young dancers are wanted to perform the corps de ballet and soloist roles.

Auditions for dancers aged eight to 11 will be from 5-6.30pm and for dancers aged 12-18 from 7-8.30pm.

All dancers will take part in a 90-minute ballet class in a studio theatre.

EYB Director Miss Janet Lewis MBE said: “We are looking for boys and girls who love to dance and who can demonstrate that at the audition.

“Auditioning for EYB is an experience in itself as we encourage the dancers to work on their style and presentation.

“The audition will feel like a performance as it taking place in a studio theatre and parents are invited to watch.

“The dancers who are accepted will rehearse as professionals for 10 days and then perform with our exceptional principal dancers.”

Dancers are advised to pre-register for the audition to avoid queues, but it is possible to register on the day.

For more information and to register for the audition contact Miss Lewis on 01689 856747, email [email protected] or visit www.englishyouthballet.co.uk
