Posted onPosted on 12th Apr

The Harley Gallery, Welbeck, has special events to mark the coronation of King Charles III.

They include a talk, called Coronations and the Collection, by Dr Fiona Clapperton. education and engagement manager and historian.

It includes a free gallery walk and will focus on objects displayed in the Portland Collection with links to previous coronations, including Queen Mary II’s stunning ruby coronation ring.

Free booking for the event on Saturday, 25th April, at 11am, is required at https://harleyfoundation.org.uk/whats-on/event/museum-talk-coronations-and-the-collection

A similar event on 5th May is sold out.

There is also a  chance for children to have a go at making their own hand-stitched robes and jewel-encrusted tiaras — modelled on the design of the famous Portland Tiara — ready for the royal celebrations.
