Variety at Palace Theatre in June

See smash hit film Bohemian Rhapsody as you have never experienced it before with a big screen sing-a-long-a version at Mansfield Palace Theatre on Thursday, 2nd June.

Celebrate Queen, their music, and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. A live host will warm up your voices in true Freddie Mercury style, teach you some iconic dance moves, and show you how to use your interactive prop bag, which contains a glow stick, a tissue, paper crown and rice paper moustache.

Psychology of Serial Killers on Friday, 3rd June is a sell-out talk from expert forensics lecturer Jennifer Rees to explore one of Forensic Psychology’s most troubling topics. Due to the popularity of this event, the theatre will be adding more to its programme in the future.

As always there is a variety of music tribute nights in June, including Luther Vandross (Wednesday 8), Rod Stewart (Thursday 9), The Beatles (Friday 10), Elton John (Thursday 16), The Everly Brothers (Friday 17) and Frankie Valli (Wednesday 22).

Expect stories, stand up and songs, and a candid and hilarious Q and A session with the audience when Su Pollard brings her feel good show, Ooh, and another thing,  on Tuesday, 21st June.

Local talent performing on the Palace stage includes dance showcases from Expressions Academy of Performing Arts (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5), Excelsior Dance Studios (Saturday 11 and Sunday 12), Believe Academy (Saturday 18 and Sunday 19) and DanceWorks (Friday 24 to Sunday 26).

New Youth Theatre students present Joseph on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 June and Ripley and Alfreton Musical Theatre Company present their version of the TV series Bad Girls from Wednesday 29 to Saturday 2 July.
