There is something for everyone at the Palace Theatre, Mansfield, in April – from children’s shows and an Easter panto to ballet and classical music.

Familiar faces taking to the stage include Ricky Tomlison and Louie Spence, together with local amateur groups.

Tony Christie, whose voice has captivated generation after generation, will appear on Tuesday, 9th April in Tony Christie: A Life in Music – Celebrating 80 Years.

Celebrating the importance of love and happiness in everyone’s lives, Paul Rissmann’s musical retelling of Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees’s best-selling picture-book, The Chimpanzees of Happy Town, leaps from page to stage on Wednesday, 10th April.

Whether you’re familiar with classical music or are keen to hear it for the first time, an intimate evening of pieces by Beethoven and more is promised on Wednesday, 10th April as Ensemble 360 present Music in the Round.

Graffiti Classics on Thursday, 11th April is a classical concert, a gypsy-folk romp, an opera, a stand-up comedy set and a dance show all rolled into one.

Dinosaur Adventure Live is back on Friday, 12th April. When the island’s ancient volcano becomes active, it spells danger for everyone – including the dinosaurs! It’s a race against time to help our rangers and favourite dinosaurs in this thrilling prehistoric expedition, to save Volcano Island from imminent disaster.

The Comedy Store (16yrs+) returns on Friday, 12th April, while Anton Benson Productions returns to Mansfield with another Easter pantomime on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th, starring Louie Spence as the Sheriff of Nottingham, alongside Britain’s Got Talent stars George Sampson as Robin Hood, Ashleigh and Sully as Maid Marion and her dog, plus Jamie and Chuck as Little John and Friar Chuck.

Based on the motion picture starring Julie Walters and Helen Mirren, Masque Productions present Calendar Girls, the true story about a group of extraordinary women, members of a very ordinary Yorkshire WI, who persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference. The show runs fom Wednesday 17th to Saturday, 20th April.

The race is on in Northern Ballet’s Tortoise and the Hare on Monday, 22nd April. When cheeky Hare won’t stop boasting about how fast he can run, thoughtful Tortoise decides it is time to join him in a race. No-one thinks Tortoise can win, but when Hare gets distracted by games and treats, Tortoise might just surprise us all. The perfect introduction to live ballet and music, your little ones will be cheering along as a playful cast of characters retell this classic tale.

HMTC return to the Palace stage from Thursday 25th to Saturday, 27th April. American Idiot is a sung-through rock musical based on the concept album of the same name by rock band Green Day.

Featuring a live five-piece band, Shenanigans, starring Ricky Tomlinson, a musical play is on Tuesday, 30th April.
