Tribute acts to headline Ashfield Day

Ashfield District Council’s summer extravaganza event, Ashfield Day on Sutton Lawn, is back with a bang for a second year.

This year’s event will take place on Saturday, 5th August, from 10.30am to around 10pm.

New to Ashfield Day this year are a range of top tribute acts, who will be on stage from 2pm to 10pm.

Look out for tributes to Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Take That, Robbie Williams, ABBA, and George Ezra. Closing the stage will be Ibiza Nights, a five-piece band with strings and a vocalist, performing classic dance music from David Guetta to Daft Punk.

Elsewhere at the event there will be a funfair with rides for children and adults, prize stalls, and an Armed Forces and emergency services area featuring vehicles and interactive stalls.

At the community performance space, community groups, dance, and music schools will have the chance to show off their skills to the crowds.

A heritage area is to showcase the history and culture of Ashfield.

The free open-air cinema will be showing Matilda the Musical and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Also returning to Ashfield Day will be a market village, which saw more than 70 stalls last year; a dog show; and free face painting and family activities inside the Feel Good Families community gazebo.

An animal area will host new animal experiences.

Any businesses, charities, or community groups interested in having a stall or attending the event can apply at https://outoftheboxevents.co.uk/ashfield-traders/

Council leader Coun Jason Zadrozny said: “Last year saw over 12,500 residents attend the event and this year we are hoping to top that amount with our extended offer that has something to suit everyone’s tastes.

“Ashfield Day is a real celebration of our home and the people that make it. We are so proud to be able to throw such a fabulous event for the residents of Ashfield.”

Coun Chris Huskinson, executive lead for Leisure, Health and Wellbeing, added: “The council is committed to hosting fantastic free events for the whole community and Ashfield Day is shaping up to be one of our best events yet. We can’t wait to see everyone there enjoying the event and the lovely surroundings of Sutton Lawn.”
