Theatre hosts carnival dance classes

Posted onPosted on 22nd Feb

In the lead up to the first ever Mansfield Carnival on Saturday, 17 June, the district council is offering the chance for anyone over the age of 16 to get involved in free dance classes and become part of the carnival parade.

The classes will be led by Maria Slack, of MProductiontime2show, who said: “If you enjoy dancing, this class is for you. You will learn some cool moves, loosen up your body and workout to the latest soca, RnB, Afrobeats remix music and many more music types with positive vibes.

“You will develop your fitness, raise your performance ability and further your knowledge across a variety of dance genres, all helping you to gain confidence and a solid foundation across a range of commercial styles, from urban street to commercial dance. Fun, high-energy choreography routines will be taught step by step.”

A taster session will be held on Tuesday, 28th February, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Weekly classes will begin from Tuesday, 14th March.

For further information or to sign up, contact Christopher on [email protected] or 01623 463375.

The carnival will be a full day of free family fun, including live music, activities, crafts, food, face-painting, walkabout entertainers, and a carnival parade to celebrate Mansfield’s Windrush generation. The event will take place in and around Mansfield Market Place on Saturday, 17th June, from 10am to 3pm.
