The Full Shebang Festival is coming to Mansfield

Posted onPosted on 7th Aug

A new free festival is coming to Mansfield town centre in September.

Featuring a high-wire circus, a life-size interactive game zone based on classic arcade games, trampoline and acrobatics shows, music, dance and model making with the creatives behind Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, The Full Shebang Festival takes place on 7th September and will be free (with a small cost for some workshop events), from 10.30am.

Outdoor performances will take place throughout the day in Mansfield Market Place, starting with Frantic, an explosive, acrobatic piece of dance theatre with a rain-soaked finale. A trampolining trio will follow, performing the show dip — expect breath-taking air twisting tricks and funky tunes.

Look Up is a circus puppetry show. Last, but by no means least, a giant semi-circular see-saw made of wood and steel is the centre point for Belly of the Whale, where circus meets sculpture as performers ride the structure.

In the Four Seasons Shopping Centre will be the world’s first human jukebox, a giant animatronic puppet of an anarchic but playful tropical bird, and a tea dance with a difference — a dance through the decades, suitable for all ages and abilities.

On the streets near to the Market Place Bingo Lingo will provide a reinvention of a great British tradition.

The Actual Reality Arcade is a life-size interactive game zone for all ages, inspired by classic arcade games. In Theatre for One, a one-to-one three-minute theatre experience, participants can choose to dive to a riverbed, explore a strange house, or peep into the world’s first pregnant man.

The Makers’ Quarter, in The Old Library and Mansfield Museum, will feature mask making with mask makers to the stars, Wintercroft; model-making with Aardman Animation, creators of Wallace and Gromit; and the chance to learn circus skills.

The Full Shebang is produced by First Art with support from Without Walls Touring Network Partnership, Mansfield District Council, Mansfield BID, Inspire Youth Arts, Four Seasons Shopping Centre and Mansfield Museum.
