More than 800 children and their families enjoyed a free day out in Mansfield Market Place, themed around superheroes and princesses.
It was the first of many events for 2023 organised by Mansfield BID (Mansfield Business Improvement District) on behalf of town centre businesses.
Children were invited to dress up and claim superhero or princess goodies, including masks, wristbands, bubble wands, floral headdresses and stretchy men from the BID team.
The event included princesses and superheroes from Little Princess Parties, which is based on Stockwell Gate.
Photographs could be taken with their favourite character or in a rose-covered princess carriage, where a competition to name a little horse took place. Three winners were chosen and awarded a prize supplied by Smyths Toys, Portland Retail Park.
Sue Rogers, BID operations manager, said: “It was such a wonderful day, with lots of children dressing up in costume to be part of the event. This was a great start to our 2023 events plan as footfall was 19% up on last year, which equates to over 3,606 extra visitors to our town centre.
“We are offering a wide range of events this year, including Party On The Market on 4th June, and Armed Forces Day on 25th June, which we are hosting jointly with Mansfield District Council. Please put these dates in your diary!”
Mansfield BID chief executive Jay Rowlinson added: “Mansfield has many great things to offer. Our events this year, along with those of the district council and other partners, will showcase Mansfield as the events capital of Nottinghamshire. Please come into the town centre and show your support and love for your town.”
Other town centre businesses joining in the princesses and superheroes day were Nexus People, The Little Lotion Company, Zap, and ‘Subman’ from Subway.
