Society puts its sole into reboot musical!

Posted onPosted on 8th Nov

A hit musical based on a heartwarming true story is the latest show to be staged by Mansfield Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society.

Founded in 1905, the society will put on its spectacular production of Broadway hit Kinky Boots at Mansfield Palace Theatre, from 6th to 10th March next year.

And tickets are now on sale for what the society promises will be a sensational evening of entertainment and celebration.

The Tony Award-winning musical, with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein, is a heartwarming tale of self-discovery, acceptance, and fabulous footwear.

Based on a true story that inspired the 2005 British film of the same name, the show follows the journey of Charlie Price, a struggling factory owner, and Lola, a feisty drag queen.

Together they embark on a remarkable adventure to save the failing shoe factory with a little help from dazzling, high-heeled boots.

Among the cast will be: Jamie Savage (Charlie Price), JJ McCormack (Lola), Helen Mumby (Nicola), Rebecca Wigman (Lauren), Wayne Shutt (Don), Carolyn Frith (Pat), Matthew Bird (George), Lauren Taylor (Trish), Garry Richardson (Harry), Graham Berridge (Mr Price), Steve Webb (Simon Sr), Jono Cooper (Richard Bailey), Clare Harris (Marge), Kay Thomason-Vardy (Milan stage manager), Harry Bramall (young Charlie), Max Shaw) young Charlie), Sam Harrington (young Lola/Simon), Ollie Weaver (young Lola/Simon).

Mansfield Operatic Society, which staged 9 To 5 The Musical in February this year, said it is renowned for a commitment to delivering top-tier theatrical experiences, and Kinky Boots would be no exception. The production will also be raising money for charity.

A spokesperson said: “With a talented cast, elaborate costumes, and showstopping numbers, this production promises an unforgettable evening of entertainment.

“We encourage all theatre enthusiasts to get their tickets early as we fully expect this show to sell out and we don’t want you to miss out on the fun.”
