A super-charged autumn season at the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, gets off to an all-singing, all-dancing start with the West End smash hit Shrek The Musical for three weeks in September. The season continues, full to bursting with the very best music and dance, with the Olivier award-winning Top Hat and a new production of the classic musical Calamity Jane starring Jodie Prenger at the Theatre Royal.

From the world of comedy, some stellar names visit the Royal Concert Hall this autumn, including Ross Noble, Dawn French, Joan Rivers, Alan Davies and Lee Mack.

The venue will also play host to some of the biggest names in music, including Paloma Faith, Erasure, John Legend, The Saturdays, The Osmonds, Tony Hadley, Caro Emerald, Peter Andre, Steve Hackett, Sheryl Crow, Paul Potts, Neil Sedaka, Paul Carrack, Jools Holland, The Manfreds, plus Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott.

Home-grown talent will also get a chance to shine with Nottingham Rocks, featuring the city’s best up-and-coming music artists, and Nottingham’s Top Talent which will showcase the best live performers from across Nottingham as they compete for a £1,000 prize.

Both venues have plenty to offer younger audiences, too, including Peppa Pig, Dinosaur Zoo, Nottingham Operatic Society’s Annie, Horrible Histories Barmy Britain and the venue’s own Beanbag Music Club for little ones.

Northern Ballet recreates the glamour of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, and also brings a new ballet production especially for children to the Theatre Royal, Three Little Pigs. Dance fans will also be excited to see the return of Rambert and of Riverdance, plus a unique opportunity to see Inala – A Zulu Ballet featuring music from Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Events and productions marking the centenary of the First World War include a world premiere of Pat Barker’s Regeneration prior to the West End, plus tales, poems and music from the era on the dress circle foyer’s Third Stage.

Opera North return to the Theatre Royal this autumn with arguably the most popular opera of all time, Verdi’s La Traviata, plus Smetana’s The Bartered Bride and Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea.

The Royal Concert Hall’s Nottingham Classics Season recommences in the autumn with concerts from The Hallé, Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra, St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. Due to demand, the ever-popular John Wilson and the John Wilson Orchestra, and the multi-award-winning trumpet star Alison Balsom, return to the venue this season.

Other highlights for the autumn season include A Concert For Courage, The Good Old Days of Music Hall and Variety, The Ultimate Eagles, The Magic of Motown, Fascinating Aida, Sixties Gold, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac and the RAF in Concert.
