Rocking for Pentecost

Pentecost will be celebrated in a rock atmosphere in Southwell Minster on Saturday, May 23rd as the annual Rock Mass with live band, Metanoia gets under way at 7pm.

The Rock Mass is a celebration of the sacramental worship of Holy Communion in a stadium rock atmosphere, and an opportunity to experience the Eucharist in a new way, including those not yet confirmed into the Church.

Southwell Minster School Chaplain, Father Matthew Askey says: “The Rock Mass is for all ages, but we are particularly trying to attract young people and young adults to this diocesan celebration. Those from other traditions of churches and the un-churched are also most welcome to participate in this service. Let’s celebrate together.”

The last Rock Mass event in September 2014 was a great success, when hundreds gathered to enjoy the lively worship. “Young and young-at-heart alike will gather for this very special evening.”

He urges churches and youth groups to come along and bring their friends for an event that, he says, should not be missed.
