Brass bands will be performing at a series of free Sunday afternoon concerts this summer in Mansfield’s Carr Bank and Berry Hill parks.

The performances, which have been organised by Mansfield District Council’s Parks department, will take place from May to September.

The summer programme is:

Sunday, 21st May: Whitwell Brass Band, Carr Bank Park bandstand, from 2pm to 4pm.
Sunday, 25th June: Blidworth Brass Band, Berry Hill Park bandstand. The band will be performing as part of the Berry Hill Car Show, which runs from 10am to 4pm.
Sunday, 16th July: Shirebrook Brass Band, Carr Bank Park bandstand, from 2pm to 4pm.
Sunday, 18th August: Holymoorside Brass Band, Carr Bank Park bandstand, from 2pm to 4pm.
Sunday, 10th September: Pleasley Brass Band, Carr Bank Park bandstand, from 2pm to 4pm.

Coun Andy Burgin, portfolio holder for Environment and Leisure at the council, said: “What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than a picnic in the park, listening to a traditional brass band.

“It’s the perfect setting for a relaxing day out in the fresh air for all the family — including the dog! You could even get a few families together and make a party of it.”

Other family-friendly events taking place in parks across the district this year include a free King’s Coronation Celebration at Berry Hill Park on Sunday, 7th May, from 12noon to 4pm, with live music, Punch and Judy shows, a fairground organ, and more.

Mansfield Woodhouse Community Development Group is also hosting a Coronation Party in the Park at Yeoman Hill Park, on Monday, 8th May, from 12noon to 4pm, with on-stage entertainment, stalls, bouncy castles, and rides.

Warsop Carnival is set to return to The Carrs, Warsop, on Sunday, 2nd July, from 12noon to 6pm. There will be live music, arena attractions, stalls, rides, and more. Go to www.warsopcarnival.co.uk for details.
