Panto sales a record breaker

Ticket sales for Mansfield Palace Theatre’s pantomime, which had a 62-performance run, achieved a record 94% for Aladdin.

Previous productions of Aladdin made 75% in 2002 and 90% in 2009.

The production starred Chris Edgerley, Gemma Naylor and Philip Martin Brown, who praised the theatre’s “super friendly” staff, tweeting: “You have the best staff and crew of any theatre I’ve worked in.”

Mansfield District Council portfolio holder for cultural services Coun David Smith said: “We are delighted that so many families took the opportunity to enjoy a night out to see this super production. This is a fantastic result and one we fully expect to be repeated for the next panto.”

Andrew Tucker, cultural services manager, said: “This was a great result and clearly Aladdin was a big hit. I would like to thank everyone for coming and also the great team we have here at the theatre.”

Tickets for the theatre’s 2016 pantomime, Peter Pan, are on sale with a special offer running until August 27th. Go to www.mansfield.gov.uk/palacetheatre for details.
