Adapted from the novel by HG Wells, the play has been written by award-winning writer Kevin Fegan.

What would you want to see before you go blind?

All his life Bertie has flirted with the myth that he is related to HG Wells and he loves to share his own humorous predictions of the future with friends.

Bertie has been told that he’s going blind. Putting a positive spin on the prognosis, Bertie uses his dark humour to explore Well’s predictions of the future, some of which are now the past and others somehow help him to see more clearly.

Inspired by HG Wells’ novel of the same title, The Shape of Things to Come is a poignant look at the history of the 20th Century and the history of the future.

The production cleverly intertwines the predictions made by Wells in 1933 with the wit of the loveable Bertie, bought to life with the digital wizardry and visual innovation you would expect from Proper Job Theatre Company.
