Music and drama festival to return

Posted onPosted on 18th Feb

The Mansfield Music and Drama Festival is to be held again after a break of two years.

The drama section will be held at Henley Hall, St Mark’s Church, from 24th-26th March.

The adjudicator, Stephen Owen, has previously visited Mansfield and organisers said it was a pleasure to welcome him back.

This year, to encourage involvement, there will be no entry fee, but a small charge will be requested from those who want to watch and listen to any of the sessions.

The music classes will take place at the Crescent Centre towards the end of April.

The festival is organised under the chairmanship of Paul Bacon, and is run completely by volunteers.

They are glad to have patrons who support the festival and particularly thank the businesses that continue to support the event — Mansfield Building Society and Bryan & Armstrong Solicitors.

In a few years time the festival will be celebrating its centenary and organisers hope to introduce special classes.

They added: “Unfortunately, this year we are unable to hold a Winners’ Concert, but hopefully this will be reinstated next year.”

Further information can be obtained at and on the festival’s Facebook page, or from Ann Jones on 01623 627636.
