Moody Blues tribute night

Five legendary musicians, singers and songwriters perform the music of the Moody Blues in the brand-new stage show Legend of a Band at the Palace Theatre, Mansfield, on Sunday, 17th April.

Drummer Gordy Marshall and keyboard player Paul Bliss come direct from performing on the Moody Blues’ 2015 nationwide tour. They will be joined by 10CC lead singer Mick Wilson, Leona Lewis and Westlife guitarist Tim Maple plus James Blunt and Joss Stone bass player Malcolm Moore.

Show promoter Pete Tobit of GRT Entertainments promises impeccable performances of classic Moody Blues hits by artists possessing astounding musical pedigrees.

“Both Gordy and Paul have performed with the Moody Blues for more than 20 years,” says Pete, “playing the world’s most prestigious venues, including Madison Square Garden, Wembley Arena, The O2 Arena and Royal Albert Hall.

“As well as being the lead singer with 10CC, Mick’s incredible vocals have also featured with likes of Lionel Richie, Kylie Minogue and Smokey Robinson.

“Tim’s credits include a long list of hit singles – including composer for Celine Dion’s Think Twice – while Malcolm, when not recording hits with the likes of One Direction and Alison Moyet, is a mainstay of West End musicals.

“It takes incredibly talented performers to do justice to the acclaimed music of the Moody Blues. Legend is a word not used lightly in the title of this incredible production.”

Songs featured are the lavish Nights in White Satin, number one hit Go Now and many other classic Moody Blues songs including Tuesday Afternoon, Legend of a Mind (Timothy Leary’s Dead), I Know You’re Out There Somewhere, Question and Isn’t Life Strange.

Other highlights include a moving performance of Justin Hayward’s Forever Autumn and a rendition of Eve of the War from Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds album, a chapter of the production that Pete describes as “show stealing”.

“The evening is an intriguing insight into the Moody Blues, the kings of the concept album,” says Pete. “Relive classic, million-selling albums Days of Future Passed, In Search of the Lost Chord, On the Threshold of a Dream, To Our Children’s Children and more.”

Legend of a Band is described as “an intimate evening of sensational musicianship and iconic songs that define a generation”.

“It’s a perfect night out,” says Pete, “both for Moody Blues fans and theatregoers wanting to enjoy an evening of blissful music performed by legendary artists.”
