Mansfield studio brings 25+ musicians together for lockdown project

Posted onPosted on 9th Jun

In an attempt to keep music alive whilst under coronavirus lockdown, Mansfield-based Electric Bear Studios has created a special piece together with more than 25 musicians from across the country.

Collaborating remotely, they have created a mash-up cover of ‘Uptown Funk’ by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. The video of ‘Lockdown Funk’ will be premiered on the studio’s YouTube channel on Saturday at 7pm.

Electric Bear Studios director Jared Harding said: “We wanted to keep music alive and show that people can still be connected during this tough and testing time.”

The Mansfield studio said it had coordinated with its family of musicians to bring people together and raise spirits through music.

The finished piece of work shows how people of all ages, skills and musical tastes can still be brought together during the restrictions currently placed on ‘normal life’.

A spokesman said: “The music industry has been decimated by Covid-19 and we thought it would be good to get our extended family involved in a collaboration video.

“A couple of weeks ago we posted the idea on our Facebook page and ended up having over 12GB of home recordings sent across to us from various musicians across the county.

“Our job was to edit all the recordings together to produce a great sounding and looking collaboration video.”

The studio was contacted by a wide range of people, from amateur singers to professional musicians, all getting involved from the comfort of their own homes.

Lula Haywood, one of those involved, added: “This project was something positive to look forward to.”
