Mansfield panto role for soap star

Coronation Street actor Marc Baylis is to head the cast of this year’s Christmas panto at the Palace Theatre, Mansfield.
Marc, who played Rob Donavan in the soap opera, was nominated for best newcomer at both the National Television Awards and the Inside Soap Awards.

He will play Captain Hook in Peter Pan, which will run from 26th November to 31st December.

Marc has also been seen in TV shows like Misfits, Sirens, Law and Order, The Bill, EastEnders, Doctors, My Uncle Silas, Battlefields and Hollyoaks.

“I’m good at being bad,” he said. “Captain Hook has always been one of my favourite villains. I am very much looking forward to playing him this year in Mansfield. It’s going to be great fun.”

Joining Marc on stage is Adam Moss, who will be playing Smee, Hook’s sidekick.

Adam played Silly Billy in the Palace’s version of Sleeping Beauty in 2014/15.

Andrew Tucker, cultural services manager at the theatre, said: “We love it when it’s time for Peter Pan. The flying sequences are thrilling to young and old.

“We are excited to have a popular Coronation Street bad boy as Hook.”

More than 50% of the tickets have already been sold. The Pay Now Save Now deal ends on Saturday, 27th August.

Tickets are priced from £16.40, and £10 and family tickets are available. Call the box office on 01623 633133 or book at www.mansfield.gov.uk/palacetheatre
