Mansfield charity midnight march this Saturday!

This year’s spectacular Mansfield Moonlight and Memories Walk, which raises money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, takes place this Saturday and members of the public are being invited to come and join in on the day.

Starting and finishing at Mansfield Town Football Club, the 3.7 mile circular route will see around 200 people dressed in pyjamas and onesies make their way around the well-lit outskirts of Mansfield, before returning to the Football Club where they will be welcomed by a DJ, well-earned bacon roll and hot drink.

Registration is only £10 and all the money raised will go to Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and John Eastwood Hospice. Last year, the local community helped raise almost £10,000 for the two charities and organisers are hoping to beat that total at this weekend’s event.

Sporting their own onesies, the event was launched last month by footballers, Martin Riley and Ricky Ravenhill, accompanied by Miss Mansfield, Jessica Boot.

Riley said: “This event will be a lot of fun and we hope that people in the community are as supportive of Rainbows and John Eastwood Hospice as they are of us. It is really important that people back our local charities while keeping fit and doing something fun at the same time.”

Katie Baxter, community and events manager at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, said: “Last year’s event was a huge success. We really want the people of Mansfield to join us for this moonlight adventure on Saturday. So, tell all of your friends and relatives, grab your PJs and come and join us for what promises to be a fun evening!”
