Lest We Forget exhibition

A first world war exhibition called Lest We Forget, put together by Garibaldi College, will run at Mansfield Museum from 2nd-30th May.

With 2014 marking the start of the centenary of the conflict and 2015 marking the centenary of the opening of the training Camp at Clipstone, Garibaldi College was keen to ensure staff and students engaged in commemorations to mark these events, particularly as the school stands on the site of what was once Clipstone Camp.

Over the last two years the art department has worked closely with staff at the museum in the development of a ‘Live Brief’ which forms part of the Level 2 BTEC qualification being completed by students in Year 11.

The Museum Development Officer sought submissions for the design of a banner, poster, commemorative wall plaque and display idea for recording the names of the visitors attending the exhibition.

The work on display in this element of the exhibition includes ink banner designs, work journal research books, clay relief commemorative plaques, lino prints mounted in reclaimed wooden surrounds, and visitor display units, recording the thoughts of visitors.
