Kick-start the holidays at Mansfield Summer Festival

Mansfield District Council is preparing to kick-start the school holidays with the first of three summer festivals.

The first event takes place on Monday 27 July from 10am to 3pm at King George V Park, Black Scotch Lane, Mansfield.

The event is packed with fun, free entertainment for all the family – including the dog!

Visitors can enjoy arena attractions including a bird of prey flying demonstration, multi-skills sports activities, circus skills workshops, mini dog shows and commentary from Mansfield 103.2.

There is also an opportunity to take part in arts and craft activities, handle critters at the meet the beasts stall and get your face painted. If you’re thinking of learning a new skill, there will also be the chance to have a go at archery on the field.

There will be a range of other activities including a hands-on recycling workshop, butterfly count, climbing wall, interactive and educational games, plus a chance to pick up some tips on looking after your dog.

Representatives from various council departments including Environmental Health and partners such as Mansfield Partnership Against Crime (MPAC) will also be available to answer questions and give advice.

Full details are available online at www.mansfield.gov.uk/summerfestival

Parking on site may be very limited, so please walk or use public transport if possible.

Cllr Andrew Tristram, Mansfield District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “This free family event is the first of three that will take place over the summer holidays. It’s a great opportunity to spend some time out with the family in our parks and take part in some fun activities. Bring your friends and family for a great day out.”

The next festivals are at Titchfield Park, Mansfield, on Wednesday 12 August and Carr Lane Park, Warsop on Thursday 27 August. All the events are from 10am to 3pm.
