Guides, Brownies and Rainbows to take over Market Place

Members of Girlguiding Nottinghamshire will be taking over Mansfield Market Place on Saturday, 20th June, with stalls, games and activities from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

Girls from Brownie and Rainbow units have been preparing for the day by working on their singing, dancing and cheerleading, and they plan to keep themselves – and the public – busy with giant versions of favourite games like snakes and ladders, Jenga and Connect Four.

Ocarinas and hand-chimes will be available if people want to make music, and Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders will be running stalls packed with crafts, books, toys, tombola and cakes.

Members of 5th Mansfield St Peter’s Guide Unit will also be fundraising – the girls are striving to raise enough money to adopt a rhino for a year.

“I’m sure the girls are going to have great fun taking over the Market Place and showing everyone how brilliant it is to be part of Girlguiding Nottinghamshire,” said Sarah Clarkson, who runs 3rd Rainworth Brownies. “We hope it will also show how much fun adults have when they get involved with organisations like ours. Who knows – it might even encourage a few potential volunteers to get in touch.”

Enquiries about volunteering with Girlguiding Nottinghamshire from adults of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities are always welcome – call county headquarters on 0115 987 7220 or visit www.girlguidingnottinghamshire.org.uk
