Live music is set to ring through the streets of Mansfield this Switch On day on Sunday 20 November.
The event, which kicks off from 11am, will be bigger and better with a line-up of live music throughout the day, which will include; Pleasley Colliery Welfare brass band, The Red Hot Band offering a jazz and swing sound, and a gospel choir.
Along with music during the day, families will be able to take part in fun activities such as a circus skills workshop, Christmas face painting, Peter Pan finger puppet workshop at Four Seasons Buzzy B Club and a Tinker Bell magical fun trail.
Then families can watch the arena family fun shows at 11am, 12noon, 1pm and 2pm, at the Buttercross area at the side of Mansfield Library and welcome Santa and his festive friends to Mansfield.
There will also be a Children’s Christmas party in the Market Place from 2.30pm where children can expect music, games and prizes, just in time for the main stage show to begin at 3.30pm.
Acts have now been confirmed for the main stage show and include Katie Markham, a female vocalist known for her Adele tribute act, and Soul Rhythm, a five piece band who are sure to please the crowd with a selection of pop hits and Christmas classics.
They will be joined on stage by two special guests, Millie Harrison and Jasmine Allsop from year 8 at the Ashfield School Vocal Ensemble who will lead a singalong of the famous ‘Walking in the air’ song from The Snowman™, whilst he makes a special appearance.
As the evening heads towards the final countdown at 5pm, Santa will be making an appearance, joined by one child, a VIP experience winner, who will press the button to turn on the Christmas lights and set off a spectacular firework display.
The public can bid to win this experience by listening to Mansfield 103.2’s breakfast show from 14 November. Full details can be found at www.mansfield.gov.uk/switchon
