Two gardens in Ashfield will be open to the public on Sunday, from 12noon to 5pm, as part of the National Garden Scheme, raising monies for cancer and nursing charities.

East Meets West, 85 Cowpes Close, Sutton, NG17 2BU, is a garden that reflects both exotic and European plants and is an interesting mixture of both garden styles.

There is wheelchair access and there will be plants for sale and refreshments.

Spring Bank House, 84 Kirkby Road, Sutton, NG17 1GH was dug from wasteland in 2012 and displays hundreds of rare plants.

Two terraces punctuate its slops and a woodland area with hardy exotics and a wildlife pond, offering paths and mown grass for a choice of garden circuits.

There is parking and dogs are welcome. There will be plants for sale and refreshments.
